Dispatch July 4: Celebrate the 4th🇺🇸🎆 Tahoe-Truckee Style!

HAPPY JULY 4TH!
This photo above is by far one of my favorites of my kiddos…circa 2010 at the good ol Truckee July 4th Parade. A tradition for many. Back in the day when they still were throwing candy to the crowds and when I could dress the kids alike for the festivities. 😍

What’s on your agenda for today. If you know the Tahoe Basin and Truckee on and around the 4th of July…things can get nutty. In a fun way if you are willing to absorb it. A ton of things going on, not to mention a ton of people and traffic. So it’s a good time to practice patience and just have some plan old fun! However, if you’re not into the crowds, there are plenty of spaces to explore, on the trails and on the water for a little holiday solitude. So do what’s best for you and embrace your independence!🇺🇸
Here are just a few examples of what’s happening locally:

🎆 Festivities and Fireworks! 🎆
Pancake Breakfast, Firecracker Mile + Parade in Truckee!🇺🇸
Don’t miss the hometown parade. A long standing tradition here in Truckee. Start off with pancakes at the Truckee Fire Station 92!
Which happens to be at the start of the parade. Follow it up with the Firecracker 1 mile race down Donner Pass Rd, then grab a spot along the parade route and enjoy the show!
Then check out the all day long festivities at West End Beach Donner Lake, and then FIREWORKS will be shooting off from the beach at 9:30PM tonight. Pack drinks and snacks, and arrive early to get a good seat for the spectacular show! Most fireworks shows begin at 9:30 PM, but you’ll want to be ready to catch them well before then.

🎉 There is also Tahoe City’s Jam-Packed Day 🎉

🌲 Travel Responsibly 🌲
With an influx of people in the area, the 4th of July is one of the busiest times of the year in Lake Tahoe. Here are a few tips to have fun, stay safe, and remain conscious of the environment:
  • Plan Ahead: Make reservations early and check traffic updates.
  • Stay Hydrated: Drink plenty of water and wear sunscreen.
  • Respect Nature: Stay on designated paths and don’t disturb wildlife.
  • Dispose of Trash Properly: If you pack it in, pack it out! Help keep our beautiful Tahoe clean.
♻️ Keep Tahoe Clean ♻️
After the 4th of July celebrations, our beautiful beaches can be littered with trash. Each year, volunteers gather for the biggest cleanup event to clear Lake Tahoe’s shores. There’s a history of how bad the trash has been in the past, but let’s make a difference this year! Remember to pack out what you bring in.

Each year on July 5, Lake Tahoe residents and visitors turn out for one of the largest cleanups of the year, hosted by Keep Tahoe Blue. Held at various locations around Lake Tahoe, you can participate in the Keep Tahoe Red, White, and Blue Beach Cleanup and do your part to remove litter from beaches to help protect the area’s wildlife and the lake’s clarity.
